Fabulous Follies

This month I did some incredibly stupid things!  They were dumb enough to take pictures of so that you could all have a good laugh.

The first grand idea I had was to try out a new chocolate cake recipe hours before my book club would be arriving to eat it.  All was going well with my two layer cake of fat and sugar when I made my first mistake, I didn't wait for the top layer to cool before putting it on the bottom layer.  It promptly split in half.  Next I mixed up the yummy frosting and
didn't think to check the consistency before I put it on the broken cake.  It just oozed all over the cake and onto the plate.  AAAhhh, what was I to do?  I had no backup plan.  Then I got a brilliant idea.  I sliced the cake onto the plates so that no one would see the finished project and drizzled frosting and cherry pie filling on top to make it look like I meant for it to be that way.  Can you tell?

The next folly I blame on the fact that in the almost 10 years that Richard and I have been married, this home is the first where we have had a dishwasher.  To make a long story short, we ran out of  dish detergent and so I thoughtlessly put another type of detergent in the
compartment...

At least Tide smells really nice.

First, that cake looks delicious and I would totally eat it.

Second, bubbles all over the kitchen floor... totally a college moment. Although they make it look a lot cooler on TV... like the bubbles took over the whole kitchen.

Julienne! You crack me up! Because of the email I got I'm assuming I gave you the wrong email address or that the last time we talked was before we changed addresses. SO much has happened in the last couple weeks. Take a look at my blog for a better explanation :) Miss you! (by the way... adorable family!)

I feel your pain. In our first home in Provo, I did the same thing...except with Dawn (hand-dishwashing liquid). I DON'T recommend that, either! :-)

I always wondered what would happen if I put Tide in the dishwasher.

HA HA HA! How fun! It may not be funny at the time, but definitely one of those things that will make you smile about in 10 - 20 years from now. Reminds me of Pres. Monson's recent talk on "Finding Joy in the Journey." Life is just full of moments, isn't it? =)

The cake looked good by the way. In fact, I started craving for some after I saw your picture. Ha ha! Really!! I might make us some later today. Regards to everyone.

What are you talking about? That's just Julienne being Julienne. :)

JuJuBee, you are a doll and I love your silliness! Tide, huh? Usin' the good stuff! I'll have to splurge next time I buy my detergent. :)

I have made BOTH of those same mistakes! But I did not have the creativity to turn the "broken" cake into a "Black Forest Delight"! The bubbles came from dish-washing soap (in college, of course) and my roommates thought it was so funny, they did it again and let me take the fall once more... I just couldn't figure it out. You're way smarter.

Holy cow! Once we ran out of dishwasher detergent and I put dish detergent in. Talk about bubble explosion! Too bad I didn't have kids at the time to play in them--just a mom who wasn't very happy.
