When Obama was declared president (a lot sooner than we had expected due to the last presidential race) both Richard and I were so shocked and got a little emotional. He actually did it! Both he and McCain gave great, inspiring, sincere speeches. It was an amazing night listening to all of the guests on NBC talking about what this breakthrough meant to them and their reaction to the result. I was glad we set aside the time to be a part of the election last night!

Election Party
Last night we planned a party centered on watching the election results. We ate pizza, salad, bread sticks and ice cream. The conversation was centered around the electoral college (which was a difficult concept for some), who we were hoping would win, and the amazing historical event that we were witnessing.

I think a lot of people woke up this morning with a fresh new outlook. And within the first few hours of my day, two people said to me, "I'm actually glad Obama won." To which I replied, "So, why didn't you vote for him?"
I think this is an interesting phenomenon, and the answers I got to my question were different.
I woke up this morning excited for a new day.
I wish we could have been at your party. You would be such fun and interesting people to discuss politics with... and I could have used a refresher course on the electoral college!
This was an Historic Election for sure, no matter who anyone voted for! I'm so proud of everyone. I went poll watching for my precinct and although I didn't look through every page, the pages I did scan I could barely find anyone who hadn't voted.
p.s. I tagged you. It's a pic tag, should be harmless!!!
