The Movies

Our town doesn't have a dollar theater and so our kids don't get out to the movies too much.  Mr. M earned a trip to the movies and invited his friend.  When J Man found out he decided he wanted to use some of his birthday money to go to the movies with them and buy treats for everyone.  I am pretty sure they all thought they had died and gone to heaven!!!  Cars 2 was the flick and a great time was had by all.

Camping and Fishing

We had such a fun camping trip with the Davis's and the Jorgensens this summer.  Here are some of the highlights.
These troopers woke up before 5 am to fish and came home with more than a dozen.  The ironic thing was that the fish started biting at around 7 am.

Best Buds

The kids had so much fun creating clubs and little spots in the trees that were the girls'  spot or the boys' spot.  There was even a fallen tree that crossed over a creek that was called the bridge to Terabithia.  It was hours of creative fun!!
These were the self appointed guards who were scaring away any would be campers from this spot so that when our friends the Jorgensens showed up they would have a place to camp.

The first hike to some falls.  Mr. M ended up with a rock in the head thanks to Baby R and her lack of good aim.

Leanne and Layne

Fishing with Dad

The Davis family and the Vance crew sharing a gourmet meal.

Fishing at a more reasonable hour (7am)  Everyone came home with at least one fish!!

The second hike to a falls.  This one was wet fun and uphill all the way back!!

After all the friends went home Dad took us on one more waterfall hike.  It was rated difficult.  We ended up hiking too far making it a total of 4 miles up "difficult" hiking.  The next picture shows how much fun that hike was.

Not worth it!!!

Day Camp Volunteer

I couldn't have been prouder of this 11-year-old scout.  He spent four days of his summer vacation volunteering as a den chief at the local cub scout day camp.  He helped a group of Tiger scouts with their day camp activities and was commended for his kindness and attention toward the little 7-year-olds.  What a great guy you are Mr. M.

Blueberries!!

We went out on an overcast day this summer with Leanne and her son to pick blueberries.  I have never picked blueberries before and it was so fun to see how much we were able to pick in only 45 minutes!  Of course, only one bag of the fruit made it to the freezer.  We were too busy eating them fresh to try to save any more than that for the winter.  Maybe some day I will have a big freezer in the garage and freeze all of this yummy fruit!!

J Man is 6!!

In July we celebrated J Man's 6th birthday.  He got some really fun presents.  His favorites were these basketball pillows that his sister Little L designed and sewed, some Beyblades and some fun school clothes, a basketball hoop for his room and of course money!!!  Happy B-day buddy.

Shakespears

We had a ton of fun earlier this summer with our friends the Shakespears.  Christi is one of my best friends from high school and a little over a year ago she and her family moved only an hour away (lucky us!!)  We got together twice this summer, once up at her place and then down at ours.  When we visited her house we went to the movies and the roller skating rink.  The kids had a great time!!  The second get together was down at the river.  We had so much fun reuniting with some old friends.  Thanks for the fun Christi!!

4th of July Cherries

We had so much fun this year on the 4th of July.  We went to pick cherries and strawberries at this orchard, played in the river all day, had a BBQ with the Jorgensens and enjoyed fireworks on the river in the evening.  It was a fun-filled day!!
